Job Description

Founding Pastry Chef (Part-Time)

Build the Future of Camber Desserts

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is not a traditional pastry position.

Camber has established itself as one of Wine Country's fastest-growing luxury catering companies, producing refined private dining experiences, weddings, winery events, and corporate hospitality throughout Sonoma and Napa Counties. Today, our pastry program produces desserts, breads, and baked goods for these events.

Now we're building something much bigger.

Camber Desserts will become a dedicated division of the company focused exclusively on exceptional pastry experiences, wedding cakes, luxury dessert displays, plated desserts, specialty confections, retail products, and entirely new hospitality concepts that don't currently exist in our market.

We're looking for the person who has always dreamed of building something of their own but understands that building the right business is often better than starting one alone.

Initially, this role will be part-time, supporting our existing catering operations while working directly with ownership to design, develop, and launch Camber Desserts. For the right person, we envision this evolving into the leadership role of the department, with the opportunity to become a long-term partner as the business grows.

If you've ever wanted to build a bakery or pastry business without starting from scratch, this may be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're searching for someone with exceptional technical ability, creative ambition, and an entrepreneurial mindset.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has experience in Michelin-starred, Michelin-recognized, James Beard-recognized, or similarly respected pastry programs.
  • Has a strong personal style while remaining excited to collaborate and innovate.
  • Dreams bigger than simply executing recipes; they want to build a brand.
  • Can develop plated desserts, artisan breads, wedding cakes, dessert displays, and seasonal pastry programs.
  • Is highly organized and capable of developing systems, recipes, production schedules, and quality standards.
  • Takes genuine pride in craftsmanship and understands that every dessert reflects the company behind it.
  • Is excited by the idea of helping create something entirely new.

Applicants without Michelin-starred or equivalent luxury pastry experience are welcome to apply but should expect additional training and mentorship before taking on leadership responsibilities.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Initially, you'll support Camber's existing dessert and baking production on an as-needed basis while helping develop the vision for Camber Desserts.

As the program grows, your role may expand into:

  • Leading pastry production
  • Designing seasonal dessert collections
  • Developing wedding cake and celebration cake programs
  • Creating luxury dessert displays and catered pastry experiences
  • Building production systems and operational standards
  • Helping hire and mentor future pastry team members
  • Shaping the long-term identity of Camber Desserts
COMPENSATION & FUTURE OPPORTUNITY

This position begins as a part-time hourly role with compensation based on experience.

More importantly, we're looking for someone interested in building something lasting. As Camber Desserts grows, we intend for this role to evolve alongside it. For the right individual, there is a genuine opportunity to transition into a long-term leadership position and explore a future partnership in the business.

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER

Most pastry professionals eventually reach the same crossroads: continue building someone else's vision, or risk everything to build their own.

We believe there's a better path.

We're looking for someone who wants to create extraordinary work, build an exceptional team, and help establish one of the premier pastry programs in Wine Country. We'll bring the infrastructure, the clientele, the event portfolio, and the momentum. We're looking for the person who wants to bring the talent, the ambition, and the vision.

If that sounds like the opportunity you've been waiting for, we'd love to start the conversation.
