Security Guard

Reports to: Security Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Department: Retail Operations / Security

Location: St. Peters, MO 

Pay Range: $16.00/hour + $3hr overnight shift differential

Position Summary:  

The Security Guard at Mint Cannabis plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our team members, patients/customers, and retail operations. This position is responsible for monitoring activity on-site, enforcing security policies, and maintaining a welcoming but secure environment for all guests and staff. The ideal candidate is observant, calm under pressure, and committed to maintaining a high standard of professionalism.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine patrols of the premises to deter theft, monitor behavior, and report suspicious activity
• Monitor and control access to the facility, ensuring only authorized personnel and guests enter secure areas
• Respond quickly and appropriately to alarms, incidents, or emergencies, including basic first aid if required
• Maintain clear and accurate incident reports, security logs, and shift summaries
• Enforce company policies and compliance regulations to ensure a safe environment
• Deliver professional customer service by assisting patients, customers, and employees with information, directions, or support
• Coordinate with management and local authorities when necessary during incidents or emergencies
• Support daily operations by helping with crowd control, ID verification, and line management during peak hours

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None

Qualifications:

• 1+ year of professional security experience preferred
• Strong observational and decision-making skills
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress or emergency situations
• Must be comfortable enforcing policies and protocols consistently and respectfully
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Valid state-issued identification
• High school diploma or equivalent required

Education and Certifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Formal security training or certification is a plus but not required

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs
• Must be able to stand, walk, and remain alert for extended periods
• Ability to travel between nearby store locations as needed

Work Environment:

• On-site, retail dispensary environment
• High customer traffic with potential for exposure to loud environments, outdoor temperatures, and long periods on foot
• Schedule varies and may include weekends, holidays, and night shifts

Travel Requirements:

• Minimal travel required between local Mint Cannabis locations
