Job Description

MAU is hiring a Plant Manager for our client in Portage, WI.
As a Plant Manager, you will oversee the safe, ethical, and efficient operation of a chemical manufacturing facility while driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, employee engagement, and capital project execution. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Shift Information
  • Portions of the plant operate on a 24/7 schedule
  • Other areas operate 24 hours per day, 5 days per week
  • Occasional weekend production required
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience leading managers and hourly employees in a chemical or similar manufacturing environment
  • Previous management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Project management experience involving the installation of new equipment, including reactors and systems, within an existing facility using capital expenditure funding
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Experience working in Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated facilities
  • Working knowledge of ISO Quality and Environmental Standards
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, technical procedures, and government regulations

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate data from multiple sources and make informed decisions
  • Ability to align teams with strategic goals
  • Financial acumen to improve material usage, plant costs, and volume management
  • Experience in plant leadership within a manufacturing organization, preferably in the chemical industry
  • Experience with process improvement and engineering
  • Experience managing capital projects
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management
  • Experience with talent acquisition and employee development
Essential Functions

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental requirements while advancing sustainability initiatives
  • Ensure timely delivery of products that meet customer quality requirements
  • Leverage available resources to continuously improve safety, sustainability, quality, delivery, cost, and operational efficiency
  • Implement a Daily Management System to track, report, and review key operational KPIs with business and division leadership
  • Support strategic plans and objectives for the businesses served by the facility
  • Develop processes to scale and implement new products
  • Manage labor relations in accordance with company policies
  • Maintain inventory within established limits to support short-term and seasonal demand
  • Prepare and maintain records required to manage and control operations
  • Hire, train, and adjust staffing levels to meet sales demand while maintaining budget and standard cost targets
  • Lead capital projects that strengthen health, safety, sustainability, infrastructure, cost reduction, new product development, and capacity expansion
  • Provide leadership and direction to managers and employees through performance management, coaching, recognition, performance reviews, salary planning, career development discussions, and relationship-building initiatives
  • Drive employee engagement and accountability to achieve operational goals and business results
