Job Description

Clinical & Operational Oversight

  • Ensure physicians and nursing staff comply with facility policies, care plans, visit requirements, orders, and regulations.
  • Conduct daily rounds to monitor compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Review and address accident/incident reports and oversee risk management programs.

Staff Development

  • Assist department directors with planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training and orientation programs.
  • Participate in supervisory-level training, workshops, and seminars to maintain professional knowledge.
  • Ensure personnel complete annual mandatory training on safety, infection control, and compliance.
  • Foster teamwork, morale, and a positive work environment.

Safety, Sanitation & Facility Management

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, fire safety, infection control, and hazardous materials procedures.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance to implement building, grounds, and waste disposal procedures.

Equipment & Supplies

  • Authorize purchase and maintenance of major equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure adequate equipment and materials are available for daily operations and resident care.

Budgeting & Financial Management

  • Prepare annual operating budgets and allocate resources effectively.
  • Maintain accounting systems, review financial statements, and submit reports to governing boards and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor economic conditions and adjust resources to ensure quality care and operational stability.
  • Report suspected or known incidents of fraud or compliance violations as required.

Resident Rights & Relations

  • Maintain confidentiality of resident health information.
  • Ensure residents’ rights to privacy, property, and civil liberties are respected.
  • Address and document resident complaints and grievances.
  • Implement Resident/Group Councils and oversee resident fund management.
  • Ensure policies regarding resident discharges, room changes, and notifications are followed.

Working Conditions

  • Works throughout the facility, including office areas, resident rooms, and grounds.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions, emotionally upset residents/families/staff, and potential hazards.
  • Works beyond normal hours and may be on-call during emergencies or community events.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; health-related degree preferred (Public Health Administration, Business Administration, or similar).
  • Current, unencumbered Nursing Home Administrator license in Wisconsin (or eligibility).

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of OBRA regulations, survey processes, quality measures, reimbursement regulations, and nursing practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions, plan, implement, and interpret policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with staff, residents, families, and government agencies.
  • Physical ability to move throughout the facility and assist with resident evacuation if needed.
  • Must meet general health requirements and be able to lift, push, or carry up to 25 lbs intermittently.
