Overview:

We are seeking a Director, Programming Strategy to be a key contributor role in defining CBS scheduling strategy. The Director will work closely hand-in-hand with key partners in the CBS Entertainment Division and with a wide range of teams throughout the company, including Publicity, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Research and Operations.

This role is designed as a senior individual contributor / emerging leader position and will be a strategic thought partner with the potential to grow into broader management exposure over time. The ideal candidate will have the authority to drive initiatives and operational decision-making within defined parameters, while influencing business outcomes through insights and partnership.

Responsibilities:

•    Contribute high-level strategy to planning discussions and operational decision-making to maximize ratings and revenue

•    Execute and manage short- and long-term CBS schedule planning for original and repeat content on timely basis

•    Analyze viewership and social data

•    Communicate schedule changes, needs, requests and programming stunts with cross-functional teams (i.e. Sales, PR, Marketing, Affiliates Relations and Operations)

•    Maintain and track competitive schedules in internal Scheduling database

•    Collaborate with key internal partners to build new internal Scheduling database

•    Manage Department Summer Intern

Basic Qualifications:

•    Bachelor’s degree

•    5+ years of experience in Scheduling, Content Strategy, Programming within the Entertainment, Streaming and Media Industry

•    Strong analytical understanding , including fluency in Excel and PowerPoint

•    Ability to work off-hours, which includes weekends, holidays and as needed for breaking news, sports and live events programming

Additional Qualifications:

•    Analytical and Operational Background a plus

•    Background working closely with cross-functional teams

•    Familiarity with industry trends, competitive landscapes, and market analysis

•    Experience building or refining operational processes, tools, or frameworks for decision-making

•    Ability to pivot with ease and flexibility and strong attention to detail and consistency

•    High level of comfort with ambiguity; forward-thinking, resourceful , and able to create structure where needed

•    Strong project management capabilities

•    Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, executive-ready insights

•    Self-starter who can manage various priorities

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $100,000.00 - 125,000.00. 

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.  The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable,  as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
