A growing criminal defense practice is seeking a motivated and resilient attorney to join its team in the Dallas area. This role offers hands-on litigation experience across a wide range of criminal matters, with the opportunity to take ownership of cases early in your career while building strong courtroom and investigative skills.

This is an ideal opportunity for a driven early-career attorney who wants real responsibility, meaningful case exposure, and accelerated development in criminal law.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage a diverse caseload of criminal defense matters (misdemeanor and felony)
  • Represent clients in hearings, pre-trial motions, and court appearances
  • Conduct legal research, case strategy development, and evidence review
  • Perform client meetings, jail visits, and case preparation
  • Negotiate plea agreements and support trial preparation (including second chair opportunities)
  • Conduct and support investigations related to assigned cases
  • Collaborate with paralegals and internal team members to move cases forward efficiently
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, court staff, and opposing counsel

What the Day-to-Day Looks Like

  • Significant time spent in court and traveling between counties (approximately 4 days/week out of office)
  • High level of autonomy in managing your schedule and caseload
  • Ability to work remotely between court appearances using provided technology
  • Exposure to a wide range of cases, from domestic matters to more complex criminal charges
  • Fast-paced, hands-on environment with real responsibility early

What We’re Looking For

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas
  • 1–5 years of experience preferred (open to strong early-career attorneys)
  • Interest in criminal defense and litigation
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a high-volume caseload
  • Willingness to travel throughout the North Texas region
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and follow-through
  • Comfortable taking initiative, including investigative work and case ownership

Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
  • Life and disability coverage

Why This Role

  • Immediate, hands-on courtroom experience
  • Broad exposure across criminal case types
  • High level of autonomy and ownership
  • Opportunity to rapidly build litigation and trial skills
